1. Who we are
Studorship (www.studorship.com and the Studorship Android app, also known as Tuition Connect) is a tutoring and learning platform operated from Nairobi, Kenya. Contact: tuitionconnectoffices@gmail.com.
2. Who may use Studorship
Studorship is for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly create accounts for children under 13; if we learn that we have, we will delete the account. Users aged 13 to 17 are asked for a parent or guardian's details. Tutors must be 18 or older.
3. Information we collect
- Account details: name, email address, phone number, role (student, parent, tutor or institution), age band, location, and guardian details for users under 18.
- Profile content: profile photo, subjects, level, qualifications and tutor information you choose to add.
- Content you create: tutoring requests, applications, chat messages, photos and voice notes sent in chats, quizzes (including images and audio), video lessons and study materials you upload.
- Learning activity: quiz answers, scores, results and progress.
- Technical data: device and browser type, pages viewed and app usage, collected through Google Analytics and Firebase.
- Advertising data (website): Google AdSense may use cookies to show ads. See section 6.
4. How we use information
- To create and run your account and connect students, parents and tutors.
- To mark quizzes, show results and track progress.
- To deliver chat, notifications, videos and study materials.
- To keep the platform safe, prevent misuse and enforce our rules.
- To understand usage and improve Studorship.
- To respond to your questions and requests.
5. Who we share information with
We do not sell personal information. We share it only:
- With other users as needed for the service, for example a tutor sees a student's request and a quiz creator sees results for their quizzes.
- With service providers that run the platform for us, mainly Google (Firebase hosting, authentication, database and storage, Google Analytics, and Google AI services used to generate quiz questions from text you provide).
- When required by law or to protect safety.
6. Cookies and advertising
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies for analytics and to show ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits. You can learn how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and manage ad settings at adssettings.google.com. The Android app does not currently show ads.
7. Photos, voice notes and permissions
The app may ask for access to your photos or files (to upload a profile picture, quiz image or material) and your microphone (to record voice notes in chats). These are used only when you choose to use those features.
8. Retention and deletion
We keep your information while your account is active and as needed to run the service. You can ask us to delete your account and personal data at any time. See how to delete your account. Some information may be kept for a limited time where the law requires or for safety reasons.
9. Security
We use Google Firebase security features and access rules to protect data. No online service is completely secure, so please use a strong password and do not share it.
10. Your rights
Under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019 you may ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, or object to certain uses. Email us and we will respond within a reasonable time.
11. Children and guardians
Parents and guardians of users aged 13 to 17 can contact us to review or delete their child's information.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
